Derek Brecht

Derek is born and raised in San Diego, CA. His passion for flying started when he and his dad attended the Coronado Speed Festival and met countless Navy pilots and listened to their stories. After high school, Derek attended the United States Air Force Academy and later graduated from Grand Canyon University.

Eventually, Derek worked his way back to his passion of flying by attaining his Private Pilot’s license in February 2023. Since then he has earned his Instrument, Commercial, and CFI through the Ramona Flight Training Center. He is now working toward his CFII and MEI certificates. Derek is a full time instructor at the Ramona Airport and is eager to share his passion with the community.
